Typhoon Ketsana’s latest estimates from Vietnam indicated nearly $800 million USD in damage across 14 provinces, according to an AP report published today.

The Red Cross is seeking another $4.75 million USD in aid while the United States has already promised an additional $500,000 on top of $100,000 contributed earlier.

Lack of food, water and sanitation have caused an untold number of citizens to come down with illnesses ranging from diarrhea to dermatological conditions.

The latest death toll in Vietnam indicates at least 165 lost lives with another 17 missing.  Typhoon Ketsana has already been blamed for 295 deaths in the Philippines.
